Julia Sawtell is a singer/songwriter/actress from Orange County, CA, known for connecting with audiences through her emotive voice and tone across many styles including pop, jazz, opera, musical theatre, and more. Julia’s unique sound is shaped by influences ranging from Karen Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, Allison Krauss to The Beatles.

Raised on the stage, Julia has performed in several lead roles and discovered the limitless possibilities of interpretation and arrangement of a song early on. This creative ambition led to her debut EP, Call Me Julia, a jazz/pop cover album which she recorded and arranged alongside her father, Bill Sawtell.

 

Julia recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Music (Vocal Performance). Her time at LMU was marked by international tours, recitals performed across four languages, operas, and the honor of singing the national anthem at her graduation. In 2025, she further refined her sound at the Frost School of Music Salzburg Program in Austria, collaborating with world-class mentors. 

 

Mirroring the multi-genre versatility of Barbra Streisand, Julia is skilled at a high level across various musical styles that inspire her work. Building from her debut EP Call Me Julia, she is now releasing Because of You on Oct.2nd, a full length album featuring reinterpretations of timeless songs that have formed the soundtrack of her life. Bringing together a variety of musicians and instruments, the project celebrates the songwriters and artists who inspired her journey.
